Horizon Nuclear Power has announced three new appointments to its Board of Directors.

Dr Timothy Stone CBE, expert non-executive member for the Board of the European Investment Bank and non-executive director for the Anglian Water Group joined the Board as a non-executive director of Horizon Nuclear Power. Masahide Tanigaki, advisor to CEO for Hitachi, chairperson of the Board for Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy; and Katsumi Nagasawa, vice president and executive officer for Hitachi and president and CEO of Power Systems Company, also joined the Board as non-executive directors.

Masaharu Hanyu, chairperson of the Horizon Board said: “To have three such senior figures join the Board is extremely positive for Horizon and I look forward to working with them on this crucial project. They will bring a combined wealth of expertise and experience from the UK and Japanese nuclear sectors and will provide essential support and guidance to the company as it continues to grow and move forward.”

The appointments come as Horizon undertakes a 10-week period of public consultation on its new build plans at its lead site, Wylfa Newydd. The consultation is the first major step in the planning process for the development and will cover all aspects of Horizon’s proposals, taking in everything from construction, to transport, to how the proposals might affect the Welsh language and the economy of the region.
